Description

A very known problem that can occur in carburated engines is icing. The ice obstructs air entry and engine can finally stop running.

The depression created by the carburettor to the air inlet allows the formation of ice even at positive ambient temperatures, since the air is cooled suddenly on being aspirated.

This instrument has marked a yellow arc between -10 º C and +10 ° C. This is the temperature range of the air sucked into the carburetor (not ambient air) which is more likely to form ice. For temperatures above +10 ° C icing is not probable because the temperature is too high and for temperatures below -10 ° C icing is not probable because air is too dry.
